I didn't set out to build another Enneagram website.

Instead, it started from studying the Enneagram as a way to help my clients understand the unconscious patterns that drive their behavior. Fifteen years of clinical work and over 20,000 hours sitting with people trying to change will do that.

You start to see patterns in the patterns. You notice that insight alone doesn't move people. Something has to happen between understanding yourself and actually showing up differently. I found the Enneagram to be an excellent tool for giving language to these behaviors.

At the same time, I was looking for an assessment I could give my clients without sending them somewhere else. I found that the free ones are pretty bad and the paid ones aren't much better.

So I decided to build my own. One that actually worked and was free.

But then the assessment needed context. And the context needed a framework. So I built a website around the assessment, and somewhere in that process the Enneagram Mapping Method started taking shape. An actual map that could help people use the Enneagram in a way that created lasting transformation.

I'm Chuck Chapman, a licensed professional counselor and Narrative Enneagram practitioner. This is the work I find most useful, most honest, and most worth doing.
